Her work has been used as a teaching tool in the US Army and Harvard’s Carr Center for Human Rights.
She continues to tell the stories of ordinary people through her written work about America’s prisons, the individual in society and her current online series, “The Secret Lives of Girls Around the World,” is produced in collaboration with the San Francisco-based Kitchen Sisters.
The New York Times has compared her own story, Daughter of the Queen of Sheba, to classics such as Angela’s Ashes and The Liar’s Club. Daughter is a memoir recounting the life-long experience of her mother’s mental illness. It will be on sale and available for signing at both programs.
