      • April 30, 2008, Hutchinson and Newton
      • May 1, 2008, Salina and McPherson

Sometimes it is easier to tell someone what went wrong with our day than it is to “tell me something good!” Marian Madonia, owner of Madonia International, will help us look at the difficult “garbage” experiences in our life and motivate us to focus on the “something good.” This is a practical program (with a healthy dose of humor) to help us look differently at life’s situations so that we might turn the circumstances around to the benefit of ourselves and others. A gifted storyteller, Marian brings to life the lessons that are universal for all of us.

When Adolescents Violate Sexual Boundaries WEBINAR

      • April 1, 2008 10:00 a.m. CDT

SESSION I - This two-hour webinar is the first of a two-part program designed to enhance participant's understanding of how communities can best respond to, and manage, adolescent sex offenders. Three major topics will be addressed, 1) Who are the adolescents who violate sexual boundaries; 2) Sex offender evaluation/assessment, and 3) How should communities respond. Presenter will describe a treatment approach that includes collaboration with the legal system, the offender's family, the victim's family and, if they choose, peers, school officials, treatment providers and the offender. Those participating will be better able to describe the components of the adolescent sex offender assessment process, identify the benefits of a thorough assessment, and relate the benefits of keeping adolescent sex offenders in our communities. Surviving & Thriving in Times of Transition
Spiral Dynamics: From Theory to Practice

      • April 4-5, 2008

Prairie View is pleased to welcome Don Beck, Ph.D., to the sixth annual Exploration into Being and Becoming Conference. Dr. Beck is co-founder of the National Values Center, CEO of the Spiral Dynamics Group, Inc., and author of Spiral Dynamics: Mastering Values, Leadership and Change.

An advanced extension and elaboration of the biopsychosocial systems concept originated by the late Dr. Clare Graves, Spiral Dynamics explains deep forces in human nature which shape our values, and lays out both a pattern and trajectory for change. Dynamic Spiral forces attract and repel individuals, form the webs and meshes that connect people within groups, communities and organizations, and forge the rise and fall of nations and cultures.

Learn how Spiral Dynamics explains how people think about things, why people make decisions in different ways, why people respond to different motivators, why and how values arise and spread and the nature of change. A panel of local experts will lead an in-depth discussion of practical applications, including therapeutic contexts, families and communities, spiritual practice and theology, organizational change and global peace efforts.
